I'm a curious eccentric who does a bit of writing, painting and tons of research for all reasons and none. I'm married to the sexiest man I've ever known and have let loose four hell bent on life offspring upon the world. There's more, but that's enough.

Read my post below, make signs indicating what is important to YOU and take the day OFF.
Take your signs, kids, dogs and go to the park, or the beach, sit in your front yard and take the opportunity to say, "Heya" to your neighbor.

Be seen, be heard, be supported.

My voice is loud, but OUR voice could be heard the World over.

How on Earth do you other countries get by? The US has, from the look of this graph, the lowest prices in the World and I, as well as many of the people I know, are barely able to make it week to week. Especially with gas prices driving up the prices of everything else.

I gotta tell ya', I'm not the smartest person who has ever lived but I can see things are building up and there's got to be a breaking point. People in the cold climes in this country can barely afford to heat their houses, low income families (because lemme tell ya', there really isn't a middle class left) are having a hard time being able to afford to get back and forth to work or feed their families. Never mind luxuries. I had to look that word up the other day and I work two jobs.

Hell, my government can't tell me all's well and all matter of things are well if they're issuing stimulus checks. (*wink* See? I'm fairly bright.) And yet, I haven't heard anything proactive from the people you and I, regardless what country you live in, pay to handle this stuff.

Governments are not a self sufficient entity; they are dependent upon their people. We're just silly twits who too often forget that.

I've read about alternative fuels and while I know many of them aren't (supposedly) developed enough to be implemented yet, I'd personally like to know how close we are or if our governments are even seriously working toward making alternative fuels a viable resource. Yup, I'd like some answers, wouldn't you?

Now, all this brings me back to us; you and me. You see, I'm kinda an elemental thinker. I like to get to the bottom line of a thing and take it from there because it's usually the clearest way for me to understand.

The bottom line for me is we've become entirely too dependent and complacent. We've lowered our expectation and broadened our comfort zone to the point where the majority don't question, we just complain. We've let slide our liberties for the illusion of security. We've let our voices go quiet because we forgot how to make ourselves heard. Unless we take a stand and tell the people who THINK they are the powers that be what we NEED, we'll be letting go of what little bit of luxury and leisure we have left.

To this end I'm reposting something I posted on April 10th:
I just came from the gas station where the price of one gallon of regular gas is $3.85 in my lovely little corner of the world.

Remember last year when people were encouraged to not buy gas for a day? Didn't seem to have done us much good. Gas prices are still on the rise, which in turn, of course, has effected the price of groceries, products and services.

At this point, I'm not sure what will do any good. I can barely afford to get to work since I work in the next town over and public transportation in our area leaves much to be desired.

Hmm...maybe work is an idea. Maybe people should collectively agree to choose a day to not go to work in protest of gas prices. Let's face it, change doesn't come from the top; it comes from the ground.

Yes, yes, I know. I can hear the cries of "But I can't afford to take a day off! or "But it will hurt the economy!"

But really, unless you are financially well off (and even so I hope your screaming to high heavens on principle) can you really afford to keep paying the price of gas as well as all the consequences?

I know this would be difficult for small business owners, but isn't it you, the small business owner who is paying the greatest price? How much have you had to raise the price for your products or services? How many customers have you lost to big box/big business because they can afford to keep they're prices a bit lower?

I'm not saying just don't go to work on a certain day, I'm saying don't go ANYWHERE that you would have to use the liquid gold to get there. Don't send the kids to school, don't go to the store or the movies or anywhere you can't walk or ride your bike to.

Make it hurt. Yes, it will hurt us, but rarely has there been a STAND taken that didn't.
